Seen notifications targeting

Show or hide widgets based on whether a visitor already opened the notification bell list for selected items.

On the Targeting tab (notifications, NPS, surveys, or a saved audience) you can gate widgets on seen notifications. Seen state is stored in the visitor’s browser when they open the notification widget — the list behind the bell on your site.

What “seen” means

Hubbo stamps notification ids when the visitor opens the bell list while those notifications are listed. It is not a click on a toast, popup or top bar, and it is not the admin Messages inbox.

Must have seen

Show the widget only if every selected notification id is stamped as seen in this browser. Use this for follow-ups after someone has already opened a welcome or changelog item.

Must not have seen

Hide the widget if any of the selected notification ids is already stamped. Useful to avoid repeating an offer the visitor already saw in the list.

  • Leave both pickers empty to ignore seen state.
  • Seen stamps are per browser (local storage), same as other targeting delays.
  • Publishing new notifications does not clear previous stamps on visitors’ devices.
